Write for Stonefield Review
Stonefield Review is read by people who work on the practical side of public life: council officers, energy and infrastructure analysts, clinicians and health service managers, childcare providers, broadband campaigners, teachers, and the staff of small nonprofits. They are not looking for think-tank abstractions. They want a clear account of what is happening in a place, who is paying for it, and what went wrong or right.
If you write for us, your piece sits alongside reporting and analysis on the subjects our readers deal with every week. A guest post here reaches an audience that can act on it, and it stays online and indexed, so it keeps working long after publication.
What we publish
- Energy and climate policy, including grid capacity, heat decarbonisation, and how local authorities are meeting their own targets.
- Health and healthcare, from waiting lists and workforce shortages to the reorganisation of community and primary care.
- Childcare, early years provision, and the funding rules that decide whether a setting stays open.
- Local government, devolution, council finance, and the day-to-day mechanics of decision-making.
- Infrastructure and broadband, particularly rural connectivity, transport links, and publicly funded build programmes.
- Community, nonprofit, and education work, including volunteering, charity governance, and skills provision.
Guest posts and sponsored articles
We accept two kinds of contribution. A guest post is editorial: written by you, judged on its merits, and published under your byline. A sponsored post is paid placement, written to a brief agreed in advance and disclosed as sponsored where the law or the platform requires it. Both are permanent, both are indexed, and both can carry links.
Editorial links in guest posts are dofollow. We do not remove published pieces or strip links later. Sponsored placements are marked as such at the top of the article. Pricing is on request, since it depends on length, subject, and how much editing the draft needs. Our usual turnaround from accepted draft to live article is three to five working days. If you want to submit an article on a commercial basis, say so in your first email and we will send rates and the disclosure wording we use.
Guidelines
- Original and unpublished elsewhere, including your own blog or LinkedIn.
- 800 words or more. We would rather have 1,200 good words than 800 padded ones.
- One or two relevant links. Links must go to sources, data, or organisations that genuinely support the argument.
- No gambling, adult, or pharmaceutical content. We will not run it and we will not reply to pitches for it.
- An author bio is optional. If you send one, keep it to two sentences.
- We edit for house style: British spelling, plain prose, no marketing language. We will send you the edited draft before it goes live.
Read a few recent pieces before you write. Our contributor guidelines page sets out the tone we aim for, and it is worth five minutes of your time.
How to pitch
Email guestpost@maricordes.org with the subject line "Guest post: <topic>", replacing the bracketed part with your actual subject. In the body, give us a short outline of no more than 150 words: the argument, the evidence you will use, and why it matters now. Add a link to one or two pieces of past work, or to anything you have had published elsewhere. If you are pitching a sponsored post, say so at the top. We read everything and reply to pitches we can use, usually within a week. If you have not heard back after ten days, assume we have passed this time and pitch us again with something else.
One address for all of it: guestpost@maricordes.org. Pitches, drafts, questions about rates, and corrections to published pieces all go to the same inbox, so nothing gets lost. Write to guestpost@maricordes.org and we will take it from there.
